It seems history and modern technology are coming together as the Old North Church has installed LED lights. It is interesting to see these sites trying to balance historical accuracy with modern concerns.

    - and special occasions such as the death of a president, or a World Series victory by the Boston Red Sox.

I think what gets me is calling the death of a president a “special” occasion. I suppose in the strictest sense, that’s true–but the connotation is wrong. And it’s made further wrong by comparing it to a sport team winning a championship.
